Chapter 705
Upon completion of renovations in 1984, the Hampshire County Regional Housing Authority turned over the properties located on Arlington Street and Pleasant Street to the Easthampton Housing Authority. Each unit is a duplex, providing housing for a total of four families. Some of the maintenance is provided by the Housing Authority, but tenants are responsible for the cost of most utilities and for the upkeep of their repective grounds.

Special Needs Housing

This large building located at 112 Holyoke Street was purchased by the Housing Authority in 1982. For serveral years it accomodated developmentally impaired adults and children. Today it accomodates the Housing Authority Office and 2 three-bedroom housing units for low income to moderate income families with special needs member.

Dickinson Court

This development, located at 15 Liberty Street in Easthampton, was completed in 1984. This two-story complex consists of thirty, one bedroom units. Two of the units are handicapped accessible. Also included at this site is a community room which houses a kitchen and laundry facilities. As with our other 667 developments, all utilities and maintenance services are provided here by the Housing Authority.

Cliffview Manor

Cliffview Manor, located on Tower Lane, Lussier Circle, and Echo Lane in Easthampton consists of two combined developments (667-2 and 667-3) totaling ninety units. Forty, one bedroom units were constructed in 1972. The maintenance department's garage and workshop are also located here. A large community room, with kitchen and laundry facilities, are shared by the tenants. This hall is used for a variety of functions including tenant bingo, social activities, and events of general interest to the senior population. Many civic and fraternal organizations also make use of this facility. All utilities and maintenance services at this complex are provided by the Housing Authority.

Sunrise Manor

This development, located on Laura Avenue and Paradise Drive in Easthampton, was contructed in 1959. It was the first complex specifically built to provide subsidized housing for the elderly in the city of Easthampton. It consists of thirty-one bedroom units, a community room, with kitchen and laundry facilities, is available for tenant use. This community room is also used by various civic groups, and this helps provided interaction between tenants and others in the community. All utilities and maintenance services at this development are provided by the Housing Authority.

This development was the first undertaking for the Easthampton Housing Authority. It was constructed in 1949, and consists of thirty-one four and five room individual homes. These Cape Cod style homes are scattered throughout the residential neighborhood of Ely Ave., John St., South St., and Sunset Ave in Easthampton. Local families with a veteran receive preference over other family applicants. Some maintenance is provided by the Housing Authority, but tenants are responsible for the cost of most utilities and for the upkeep of their respective grounds.
